Armed men suspected to be bandits raided Agbo Vengav, a community in Udam, Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, on Friday, killing at least seven residents and abducting three others.

Among those abducted was a lactating mother, while several others sustained injuries. The number of missing persons remains unclear at this time.

According to a local source who wished to remain anonymous, the attack occurred in the early hours of Friday when the gunmen stormed the community and began firing indiscriminately at residents trying to flee for safety. A toddler was also reportedly killed during the assault.

“The attack began in the early hours of Friday. Seven bodies were recovered at the scene, and a search is ongoing for the missing,” a resident said.

This incident follows another attack in the same local government area on Thursday, when gunmen intercepted two commercial vehicles and abducted 19 passengers.

At the time of reporting, the Benue State Police Command had not confirmed the details of the attack.
