1. Some National Youths Service Corps members at the Orientation Cap in Benue State have protested against and condemned the assault on their colleagues by an official of the scheme.
According to the corps members, the yet-to-be identified colleagues were slapped by the official during one of their activities in the camp.
2. The Peace Corps of Nigeria, an NGO, has secured the release of four inmates of Otukpo Medium Security Custodial Centre in Benue.
The corps, which secured the release of the inmates through the payment of their fines, also offered immediate employment to them.
3. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has reiterated the resolve of the state to kick against the reintroduced Water Resources bill before the National Assembly.
Governor Ortom who reacted to the development weekend in Makurdi while flagging off the distribution of improved seeds and seedlings to farmers in the 23 Local Government Areas, LGAs, of the state said the bill was another form of Ruga and would be unacceptable to the people of Benue state.
4. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022 flagged-off the distribution of improved seeds to the 23 local governments areas in the State.
Performing the ceremony at the headquarters of the Bureau of Local Government and Chiefteincy Affairs, Makurdi, Governor Ortom tasked the Council Chairmen to ensure that the improved seeds are given to genuine farmers for onward cultivation in this year’s farming season.
5. A Makurdi Federal High Court, presided over by Justice Abdu Dogo has ordered that court processes be served on the wife of the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Mrs. Regina Akume and others in a suit seeking to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from accepting names of candidates from the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the 2023 general elections in Benue State.
Justice Abdu Dogo ordered that court processes be served the respondents through the State Secretariat of the APC in Makurdi, located at No.75 J.S Tarka Way, through the State Secretary.
