1.The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, on Friday, escaped assassination after gunmen opened fire on his convoy.
The attack took place on Friday along Benin-Auchi Road, Edo State.
The cleric was said to have returned from a foreign trip and was heading to a destination in Edo State when the assailants attacked his convoy around the Auchi area of the state killing at least seven persons including three police officers.
2.Thirty-six dead bodies have so far been recovered while many others are still missing following the dastardly attack by armed Fulani herdsmen in the early hours of Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in Gbeji community of Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
Following the massacre, Governor Samuel Ortom, Senator representing Benue North-East Senatorial district, Dr Gabriel Suswam, Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly and PDP guber candidate, Engr Titus Uba, House of Representatives Member for Ukum/Logo/Katsina-Ala Federal Constituency, Dr Richard Gbande among others, on Friday, October 21 visited the community.
3.Several persons have been crushed to death after a petrol tanker failed brake and rammed into a residential building at Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State.
Daily Post reports that the incident happened at Emiloju area of the state.
Many persons were also severely injured in what has been described as a black Friday for the ancient town.
4.Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has banned the operations of casinos and gaming centres in the state, including BetNaija over alleged “dark deals”.
Popular gambling services in Nigeria include Bet9ja, 1960bet, Nairabet, 9jaPredict and BetNigeria.
The notice of the ban is contained in a statement jointly signed by the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr Donatus Onyenji; Chairman, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Richard Madiebo and the Commissioner for Homeland Affairs, Chikodi Anara.

6.The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it has completed the sales of Polaris Bank to Strategic Capital Investment Limited (SCIL), a new core investor.
Osita Nwanisobi, director of corporate communications, said this in a statement on Thursday.
Nwanisobi said the investment company acquired 100 percent equity stakes in the bank.
The statement added that SCIL paid N50 billion zs upfront to acquire the equity.
7.The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche has celebrated Pastor David Ibiyeome of Salvation Ministries as he marks his 60th birthday.
Enenche described Ibiyeome as a blessing to God’s Kingdom and prayed that as his days are so shall his strength be.
The Dunamis pastor, who is currently in Kenya for a crusade wrote on Facebook thus: “Happy birthday to God’s servant, Pastor David Ibiyeomie!. You are a blessing to God’s Kingdom. As your days are so shall your strength be. Continue to impact your world in Jesus’ Name.”
8.Naira has suffered a massive depreciation against the dollar, see the new exchange rate.
IDOMA VOICE reports that Nigeria’s official currency, the Naira has suffered further depreciation at the parallel market, currently trading for N750 against the dollar, according to black market platform Aboki Forex.
According to IDOMA VOICE report in September, the naira had hit a record high, trading at N719 against the dollar. Since then, the dollar has continued to rise, exchanging at a higher rate.
9.Unknown gunmen have set on fire fewer than 15 shops, several trucks, and cars at Amorka community in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.
