Fuel subsidy: Sanwo-Olu reduces prices for Lagos buses
In response to the recent fuel subsidy removal, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has taken a significant step to aid residents in coping with its effects. Today, he announced a series of palliatives aimed at easing the burden on the people.
One of the key measures introduced is a remarkable 50% reduction in fares for Lagos buses, effective starting this Wednesday. This move is expected to provide much-needed relief to commuters who have been grappling with the sudden increase in fuel prices.
Moreover, Governor Sanwo-Olu has granted approval for a substantial 25% decrease in yellow bus fees, a decision that will be officially communicated by the union representing these buses.
The governor’s media aide, Jubril Gawat, confirmed the news through a tweet, stating: “FLASH: Governor of Lagos State, Mr @jidesanwoolu has announced Palliatives to cushion the effect of the Fuel subsidy removal: – 50% reduction on Lagos Buses from Wednesday. 25% reduction in yellow buses fees which will be announced officially by their body.”
These palliatives are expected to ease the financial strain caused by the fuel subsidy removal and demonstrate the state government’s commitment to supporting its citizens during this challenging period. The reductions in public transportation fees are likely to be well-received by the residents as they navigate the current economic situation.
