UI 400-level student, Orire Agbaje joins Tinubu’s tax reforms committee

Orire Agbaje, a fourth-year Economics student at the University of Ibadan (UI), has been designated by President Bola Tinubu to serve as a member of the presidential committee dedicated to fiscal policy and tax reform.

Sources reveal that Agbaje holds the positions of President at both The Tax Club, University of Ibadan, and the Nigerian Universities Tax Club.

On her LinkedIn profile, Agbaje characterizes herself as “assertive and hardworking.” She highlights her ongoing studies in Economics, specializing in International and Monetary Economics, as well as her involvement in Accounting (ICAN) and her growing grasp of Corporate Finance and Taxation. Beyond her academic pursuits, she expresses a passion for sports and volunteering.

“I’m enthusiastic about achieving productivity in everything I undertake. My skill set includes strong leadership abilities and effective interpersonal communication,” Agbaje notes.

The committee, comprising experts from both the private and public sectors, was officially launched by Tinubu on Tuesday.

This committee holds the responsibility of addressing diverse dimensions of tax law reform, formulation and synchronization of fiscal policies, streamlining taxation, and overseeing revenue administration.

Tinubu stated, “The Committee’s initial goal is to outline a set of rapid reforms that can be executed within thirty days. Significant reform measures should be proposed within six months, with full implementation targeted for completion within one calendar year.”

Taiwo Oyedele, a specialist in tax and fiscal policy, is presiding as the committee’s chairman.
