PDP loses as tribunal gives judgement on Sokoto election

The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Jos, Sokoto State, the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been affirmed.

The tribunal’s decision came after it ruled that the petitioners, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, failed to provide sufficient evidence to substantiate their claims.

The PDP, alongside its candidate Saidu Umar, had contested the outcome of the March 18 governorship election in the state, challenging the triumph of the APC and its candidate, Ahmad Aliyu.

However, the tribunal deemed the evidence presented insufficient to cast reasonable doubt on the validity of the APC’s victory.
