Wike, Gov Fubara clash in Aso Rock

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and his immediate predecessor, Nyesom Wike, paid an unexpected visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday. This visit comes in the midst of ongoing impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara by the Rivers State House of Assembly, which were initiated on Monday.

It is essential to recall that the Rivers State Assembly complex was engulfed in flames on Sunday night, reportedly due to the growing tensions surrounding the impeachment efforts against the governor. Despite the fire incident, the impeachment process continued, with 24 out of the 32 members of the state assembly signing the document to support Fubara’s removal from office.

Governor Fubara also alleged that he was subjected to an attack by some security operatives on Monday while en route to the scene of the incident.

In an unexpected twist, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja, was seen at the State House on Tuesday, exchanging pleasantries with Governor Fubara. This encounter has generated significant interest and speculation about the nature of their discussions and the potential implications for the political landscape in Rivers State.
