CAF championship: Lobi Stars FC to arrive Kenya late due to high altitude

The Pride of Benue defeated UMS de Loum of Cameroon 2-1 on aggregate to book a meeting with against the Kenyan champions who edged Nyasa Big Bullets of Malawi 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate draw.

Mike Idoko said the management is making efforts to protect the team from high altitude in Nairobi during and after the first leg fixture.

“We have heard a lot about Kenya and we are making effort to ensure that we are not affected by the high altitude there. We know that the game will come up in Nairobi and that it will hold at the Moi International Stadium in Kasarani which is a grass pitch.

“We are doing everything to ensure that we get to the Nairobi as late as possible and then play the game. We also want to leave there for Nigeria almost immediately also. We are doing our best to ensure that our players get the best of preparations for the game.” He said.

The veteran football administrator, also pleaded with the people of Enugu come out and cheer the team to victory in the second leg.

“We have taken Enugu’s Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium as our home ground on the continent until work is completed on the runway of our airport,” he added.

“We need all the support we can get in Enugu so that it makes us feel the impact of not playing at our real home. We are not only representing Benue State we are representing Nigeria and should be accorded all the support we can muster.” he added.
