The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held an emergency meeting on Tuesday with the seven-member caretaker committee of the Benue APC. The meeting addressed concerns that the committee had attempted to dissolve the party’s local government structures.

The party issued a clear warning to the caretaker committee, stressing the need to adhere strictly to their designated terms of reference.

Hajia Zainab Ibrahim, the Deputy National Women Leader of the APC, explained after the Abuja meeting that the summons was prompted by reports from Benue indicating that the caretaker committee had dissolved several local government party executives.

Ibrahim said, “This evening, the National Working Committee met with the newly formed caretaker committee appointed to manage the APC in Benue State for six months. This meeting was convened following complaints that the committee had dissolved some local government party executives.”

She added, “The purpose of the meeting was to clarify the committee’s ‘Terms of Reference.’ Their role is to administer the party’s affairs in Benue State for six months and to oversee the upcoming local government elections. They are also tasked with organizing the logistics for these elections at all levels.”

Ibrahim emphasized that the caretaker committee’s mandate does not include dissolving any party committees and reminded them to operate strictly within their defined responsibilities.
