Benue LG polls: Gov Alia declares work-free day ahead of elections

Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has officially declared Friday, October 4, as a work-free day to facilitate free movement ahead of the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2024.

In a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the governor explained that the declaration aims to give residents ample opportunity to travel to their respective local government areas in preparation for the elections.

Governor Alia underscored the importance of active participation in the electoral process and encouraged all citizens to use the work-free day to fulfill their civic duties.

He expressed confidence that, with collective commitment, the elections will be conducted smoothly and fairly.

The governor further urged both public and private sector organizations to support this initiative by allowing their employees to utilize the day for travel and preparation.

He emphasized the need for peaceful conduct and collaboration during the elections, reinforcing the importance of unity and cooperation among all stakeholders involved
