The Nigerian Army announced that troops from the 401 Special Forces Brigade have successfully rescued eight kidnapped passengers in Benue State.

Captain Abdullahi Lawal Osabo, the acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the brigade, stated in a post on the Army’s Instagram page on Friday evening that the operation was carried out following credible intelligence regarding a kidnapping incident along the Zaki Biam-Tine Nune Road in Ukum Local Government Area.

According to the statement, “Troops swiftly mobilized to the scene and rescued a Hiace bus, belonging to Taraba Express International, with registration number KLD – 543XA. The bus was traveling from Onitsha to Jalingo with 10 passengers, including the driver.

“Upon arrival, the troops found that the criminals, realizing the troops were closing in, had fled with two passengers, while the remaining eight were successfully rescued.”

The troops are continuing to search the area to locate the other two passengers.

“The eight rescued victims are in good condition, and efforts are underway to hand them over to the relevant authorities,” the statement concluded.
