Benue South 2019: Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Igala communities in Idoma land endorse Abba Moro for Senate

Natives of Yoruba, Hausa, Igbos and Igala resident in Idoma land have declared their total support for Comrade Abba Patrick Moro of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the February 16 senatorial election in Benue South.

The communities gave the endorsements on Monday when they played host Comrade Moro at separate events in Otukpo.

According to them, Moro has always been in touch with them through thick and thin and it was high time he got rewarded for his benevolence.

Speaking on behalf of the Hausa community in Idoma land, Alh Balla Dahiru, said Comrade Moro has been in touch with the Muslim community right from his days as chairman in Okpokwu during eid celebrations.

Alhaji Dahri recalled that when there was problem over Hausa’s burial ground, Moro was one of those who intervened and fenced the place.

He also recalled that Comrade Moro gave them money to rebuild their mosque in Otukpo when it was destroyed.

“Comrade Abba Moro is not a visitor to us here. He has been a friend of this community right from his days as chairman of Okpokwu till he became minister of the federal republic.

“We can’t forget in a hurry all you have been doing for us, it is high time you got rewarded for you benevolence. We the Hausa community in Idoma land are solidly behind you.”

On his part, Dr. Umoro Ajepe, the Oba of Yoruba in Idoma land, described Abba Moro as man of the people.

Dr. Ajepe, who said he has spent many years in Idoma land and can attest to the him of Comrade Moro, assured that Yoruba natives in Idoma land would vote for Moro at the poll come February 16.

Speaking during his meeting with Igala community, Mallam Isah Shaibu, leader of Igalas, said Comrade Moro has no opponent as far as the senatorial race is concerned.

He said Moro has done well for his people as well as visitors and should be given a higher mandate to continue the good work he has been doing.

Chief Acha Ike, who spoke on behalf of Igbo chiefs in Benue, said the Igbos resident in Otukpo have already adopted Comrade Moro for senate.

Chief Ike said Moro is a friend of the Igbos and deserves all the needed support come Saturday.

In his separate remarks, Moro thanked the visitors for their show of love.

He reminded them how the current APC-led government dragged Nigeria backward when they assumed power in 2015.

He warned the people against wasting their votes on any other party in Nigeria aside PDP.

Comrade Moro reminded them that a vote for PDP during the presidential election is a vote for their Son Peter Obi.

He also recalled how he gave employments to two Igbos girls who encountered him at separate occasions in Abuja.

He promised to continue to carry everybody along when given the mandate on Saturday.

The highpoint of the meetings was when he addressed the Igbos in Igbo language fluently amid cheers and applause.
