Tinubu will transform Nigeria like he did in Lagos – President of France, Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron has commended Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, for his efforts to transform Nigeria, drawing parallels to his achievements as the former governor of Lagos State.
According to DAILY POST, Tinubu is currently on a state visit to France, having arrived in the country on Wednesday evening.
During a dinner held in Paris on Thursday, Macron praised Tinubu’s leadership, highlighting his role in fostering democracy by “conquering military rule.” The remarks were relayed in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
“Nigeria is a formidable country with talented young people. Many Nigerians are exceptional in their chosen careers,” Macron said.
In response, President Tinubu expressed his appreciation for France’s willingness, under Macron’s leadership, to strengthen ties with Nigeria.
Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to fostering better relations between the two countries and highlighted his administration’s economic reforms.
He said:
“Regarding Nigeria’s economy, as you have said, we have embarked on very strong reforms, and there is no looking back.
“It is in the interest of the entire continent that we don’t continue in the past. We must brace up for the future with commitment and optimism, with the courage of our founding fathers.”
Addressing Macron, Tinubu added:
“President Macron, all your efforts about Africa, I promise you shall not be in vain.
“You open your doors for investment for our friends and brothers here. I could see Aliko Dangote, Aig Imoukhuede, and Tony Elumelu here. You have memories of your friends in Nigeria. You asked for Mike Adenuga earlier today. Thank you.”
