Port Harcourt Refinery: No bulk sales of products to marketers yet – NNPC
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) confirmed on Friday that it has not yet commenced bulk sales of products to fuel marketers across the country.
In a statement, the NNPC clarified that, for now, the products from its refinery are being sold exclusively at its own filling stations. The company also urged the public to disregard any pricing information circulating on social media regarding products from the refinery, describing it as misleading.
NNPC spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, explained that current sales are based on products sourced from the Dangote Refinery, with prices reflecting applicable fees from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
Regarding fuel pricing from the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC), Soneye noted that no official price has been set, as prices are periodically reviewed and adjusted based on operational realities.
In the statement titled “Announcement on Pricing of PHRC Products,” Soneye said: “The Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) has not yet begun bulk sales or opened its purchase portal, as essential processes are still being finalized. Currently, the products we are selling originate from the Dangote Refinery and include applicable NMDPRA fees. Products from PHRC are exclusively for our retail stations at this time. Our pricing is reviewed and adjusted periodically based on operational factors.”
He further advised the public to disregard any incorrect pricing information, adding that official announcements will be made if and when price reviews are conducted.
This statement comes shortly after the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) revealed that NNPCL has reduced the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) for marketers, from ₦1,045 to ₦1,030 per litre. PETROAN’s National President, Dr. Billy Harry, disclosed this during a strategic meeting and award presentation in Abuja.
