Security operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have forcefully dispersed supporters of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who had gathered at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

The protesters, who arrived at the assembly gate early Wednesday morning, were met with heavy police resistance and tear gas, preventing them from accessing the premises. The demonstration coincided with the resumption of plenary and the scheduled hearing of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, which is reviewing allegations against the Kogi Central senator.

According to reports from TheCable, the protesters have now relocated to the Unity Fountain to continue their demonstration.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has been at the center of controversy following a heated dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements on February 20, which led to her referral to the Senate Ethics Committee.

Last Friday, she accused Akpabio of sexual harassment and attempting to tarnish her reputation after she allegedly rejected his advances.
