A 40-foot container on Tusday night truck lost control and plowed into multiple vehicles, leaving several people feared dead at Idemili Junction, near Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The crash, which involved a shuttle bus and multiple tricycles, was reportedly caused by brake failure as the truck descended a slope, trapping commuters and passersby.

Eyewitnesses described the terrifying moment, with one saying, “The truck’s brakes failed as it descended. The driver struggled to regain control, but the vehicle veered off course, crashing into tricycles and a shuttle bus, trapping people at the junction.”

Local residents and bystanders rushed to assist victims before emergency responders arrived. Videos circulating online show mangled vehicles and trapped victims as personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and police officers coordinated rescue operations and managed traffic.

When contacted, FRSC spokesperson in Anambra, Margaret Onabe, stated that officials were still assessing the situation and would provide further updates soon.
