Court arraigns filling station supervisor over alleged N1.25m theft
A 22-year-old petrol station supervisor, Prosper Ese, was arraigned on Wednesday before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N1,256,400 from his employer.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, faces two charges—stealing and fraud—but pleaded not guilty.
According to prosecutor ASP Edet Ekpo, the alleged theft occurred on March 2 at Arigbabuwo Petrol Filling Station, Oko-Afo, Badagry. Ese reportedly took N1,056,400 from sales remittances and fraudulently collected N200,000 from a woman, Aisat Folorunsho, under false pretenses. He was caught while attempting to flee.
The offences violate Sections 287 and 311 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrate N.A. Layeni granted him bail at N1 million with two sureties and adjourned the case until April 16.
