Benue Rerun: Youths urge Buhari to warn Gov. Yahaya Bello, others to stay away from polls
A group of Benue Youths under the aegis of Benue Youths Forum (BYF) has urged President Mohammadu Buhari to warn Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello and other All Progressive Congress (APC) Stewarts from outside the State to stay way from the forthcoming supplementary Elections scheduled to hold on Saturday 23rd March, 2019.
The group in a statement signed by it’s President, Comrade Terrence Kuanum said “It has become necessary to draw the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari to the plan hatched by Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello to invade Benue with a legion of armed thugs during Saturday’s supplementary Governorship and State Assembly elections.
“We understand that Governor Bello is supported by some other Governors in the north with money to fund the evil project which sole aim is to remove Governor Samuel Ortom from office.
“Bello’s mission to Benue is to sponsor violence at polling units in areas where the supplementary election is to hold so that voters will flee and allow APC thugs to thumb-print for their candidate, Emmanuel Jime.
“The second plan of the Kogi Governor and his APC henchmen is to compel INEC to declare Jime as winner of the election then ask PDP to go to court.
“Governor Bello and the APC thugs from Kogi State have concluded plans to enter Benue through the Makurdi-Naka road, meet with Senaror Akume and Jime before moving to the various local government areas where the polls are to hold. While the armed thugs are to arrive Benue on Thursday night, Governor Bello will arrive on Friday evening and stay in Makurdi till Monday morning to supervise execution of the plot.
“These details were part of a top secret meeting between Governor Bello and Jime recently in Abuja.
“As youths of Benue State whose future is being toyed with by unscrupulous politicians, we feel concerned, hence our decision to appeal to President Buhari to warn Governor Yahaya Bello to drop the evil agenda.
“We are law abiding citizens of this country, but we won’t fold our arms and watch a failed Governor from another state invade our territory to cause political instability.
“We will vehemently resist Bello’s plan to manipulate the Benue State supplementary election!
“Mr President must remember his statement that he won’t interfere in the supplementary elections holding in some states this weekend. He should caution his party members such as Governor Bello of Kogi not to meddle into affairs of other states. It is not enough for the President as an individual to simply pledge non-interference. He should take a step further to warn his party men and women to follow his example.” They added.
