The Kano State Police Command has successfully rescued a 75-year-old kidnap victim, Abdulrahman Yunusa, and apprehended one suspect in connection with the abduction.

Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa revealed in a statement that Yunusa, a resident of Maigana in Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was abducted from his home on May 3, 2025. His abductors reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦20 million.

The rescue operation was carried out on May 9 following a raid on a criminal hideout in Bagau Town, Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State.

The operation was led by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad based on what authorities described as “foolproof intelligence.”

During the raid, 23-year-old Musa Tukur from Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State was arrested at the scene while allegedly guarding the victim.

Police found the elderly man with his eyes covered and limbs tied.

He was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention and has since been discharged and reunited with his family.
