At least six people have been reported killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen during a renewed attack on Adógó settlement in Mbakundu Kindred of Tombo, Buruku LGA, Benue State.

The deadly assault took place around 11:00 pm on Sunday, with the assailants reportedly arriving in large numbers, armed with automatic weapons, and attacking under the cover of darkness.

In a viral video shared on his official Facebook page, Haakyav Tombu Peter, a prominent son of the affected community, described how the herdsmen went from house to house, shooting and hacking down innocent residents with machetes.

The attack, which lasted for several hours, reportedly occurred without any security intervention to protect the villagers.

Sources indicate that the bodies of six victims, including children, have been recovered and taken to the Community Health Clinic at Adógó. The deceased have been identified as Ansambe Akpen, Shina Ayom Akpen, Bade Jam Ata, Shiekuma Kpebee, and Sughter Avindigh Taku, with the identity of the sixth victim yet to be confirmed.

Efforts to reach the Spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command for confirmation were unsuccessful, as calls to her mobile phone went unanswered.
