The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has said the party will place integrity, merit, and accountability at the centre of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Mark stated this on Tuesday in Abuja during the inaugural meeting of the ADC National Working Committee (NWC), where the party outlined a reform plan to reposition itself ahead of the polls.

He said the ADC’s leadership would be anchored on four key principles, Character, Competence, Courage, and Discipline, to guide its internal operations and governance standards.

According to him, “The ADC will operate on principles, not personalities. Other parties revolve around individuals; the ADC will revolve around rules, policies, programmes, people, and results. The supremacy we seek is the supremacy of our constitution and institutions.”

The former Senate President announced the introduction of an Integrity and Performance Compact to ensure transparency, credible leadership, and citizen-centred service delivery.

Mark also expressed concern over what he described as attempts to weaken the legislature and judiciary, vowing that the ADC would defend their independence and promote accountability in governance.

“As a former President of the Senate, I am alarmed by attempts, subtle and crude, to bend the legislature and judiciary to the will of the executive,” he said. “The ADC will restore legislative and judicial independence and ensure budgets serve public interest.”

On the economy, he said an ADC-led government would prioritise productivity, job creation, and power stability through coordinated fiscal and monetary policies, while supporting farmers, industries, and small businesses with transparent credit systems.

Mark added that the party’s foreign policy would focus on regional integration, intra-African trade, diaspora investment, and peacebuilding.

He disclosed that the ADC NWC would review the party’s constitution, establish a code of ethics, and strengthen structures nationwide through training and digital innovation.

After the meeting, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the NWC approved the establishment of a Rebranding Committee and adopted the timetable for Ekiti and Osun primaries.

According to him, the Ekiti primaries will hold between October 10 and November 20, while Osun’s will take place between November and December.
