Tinubu orders end to ASUU strikes as Alausa insists demands already met
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed the Federal Ministry of Education to take swift action to end the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike.
The directive came after a briefing with the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who assured Nigerians that the government has already met most of the lecturers’ key demands.
Alausa said the president emphasized the need to maintain stability in the education sector and prevent further disruption to academic activities.
“The president has mandated us that he doesn’t want ASUU to go on strike, and we’re doing everything humanly possible to ensure that our students stay in school,” the minister stated.
He described the recent six-day industrial action as avoidable, adding that negotiations with ASUU leadership have resumed to resolve any lingering issues.
According to Alausa, the administration remains committed to ensuring lasting peace in the university system and improving conditions for both staff and students.
