The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intensified preparations for its 2025 National Elective Convention, scheduled for November 15 and 16 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, the party described the upcoming convention — tagged #Ibadan2025 — as a landmark event in its ongoing efforts toward internal reform, unity, and readiness for the 2027 general elections.

The PDP noted that more than 3,000 delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected to attend, alongside party leaders, stakeholders, and international observers, including members of the diplomatic community.

The convention will feature the election of key national officers, including a new National Chairman, and reaffirm the party’s commitment to unity, discipline, and democratic principles.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who is hosting the event, has reportedly overseen multiple venue inspections and logistical assessments to ensure a smooth and successful convention.

According to the statement, the Lekan Salami Stadium is being transformed into “a hub for democratic renewal” ahead of the two-day event.

Final preparations are said to be in full swing, with attention to seating arrangements, stage setup, lighting, and audio-visual systems, supervised by Oyo State Deputy Governor Barr. Bayo Lawal, who chairs the Venue Sub-Committee of the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC).

The party wrote:
