Reports of Willie Obiano’s death remain unconfirmed – Publicist, Nezianya

Reports claiming that former Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has died remain unverified, according to his personal publicist, Mr. Tony Nezianya.

Speaking to DAILY POST, Nezianya said he had not received any confirmation regarding the ex-governor’s death. He stated: “I can’t confirm to you; I’m not aware of such news.”

Obiano, who served as governor of Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, succeeding Peter Obi, was reportedly said to have passed away in a London hospital. However, no official statement has been issued by his family or the Anambra State Government.

Born on August 8, 1955, in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area, Obiano has previously been under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged N4 billion fraud.

As of now, Nigerians are advised to treat the reports with caution until official confirmation is made.
