Multiple soldiers were reportedly wounded when terrorists ambushed troops dispatched to rescue abducted students in Kebbi State.

The attack came just a day after the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, instructed Operation Fasan Yamma troops to intensify efforts against the bandits responsible for the abduction of girls from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga.

“You must continue the fight around the clock. We must locate these children,” Shaibu directed. He also urged commanders to rely on intelligence for strategic operations, adding: “When actionable information comes, respond professionally and decisively. This is not just about appearances; it is about fulfilling our duties effectively.”

Soldiers were ordered to maintain continuous operations until all kidnapped students were safely recovered and returned to their families.

In line with these orders, the troops set out on the rescue mission but fell into a pre-planned ambush by the terrorists.

Video circulating online captures several injured soldiers lying on the ground, awaiting urgent medical attention. One soldier, speaking in Hausa, reportedly said, “Musa has a bullet lodged in his leg. His condition is very serious.”

The attackers also riddled the troops’ operational vehicle with bullets during the confrontation.
