147 stolen livestock recovered as troops repel bandits in Sokoto

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recovered 147 stolen livestock after repelling suspected bandits during an operation in Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The development was disclosed by security analyst Bakatsine in a post shared on X on Wednesday.

According to Bakatsine, the troops intercepted the suspected bandits while they were moving the stolen animals, forcing them to abandon the livestock and flee the area.

“The recovered animals included 101 cows, 44 sheep and two camels. Soldiers also recovered three motorcycles believed to have been used by the fleeing bandits during the operation,” the post read.

Bakatsine added that the recovered livestock had been returned to their owners, providing relief to affected families who depend on the animals for their livelihood.

The security analyst also disclosed that suspected bandits attacked Kaura, Wanke, Sage, Marake and Aggur villages in Shagari Local Government Area on Tuesday night.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers rustled a large number of livestock, injured several residents and shot two people in the legs during the attack.

The injured victims were taken to the Shagari General Hospital for medical treatment.
