BREAKING: Tinubu meets military, police chiefs in Abuja over rising insecurity
President Bola Tinubu on Sunday held a prolonged security meeting with the nation’s Service Chiefs at the State House in Abuja.
The session, which was still underway as of press time, brought together key security heads, including the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke; Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Tosin Ajayi.
Images from the closed-door engagement shared by the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, via his X handle showed Tinubu in discussions with the military and police leadership. The meeting is believed to be part of renewed efforts to address escalating insecurity across the country.
It also follows Tinubu’s recent reaffirmation of his administration’s determination to confront the nation’s security threats.
The President had earlier disclosed the rescue of 38 worshippers kidnapped in Eruku, Kwara State, as well as 51 students taken from a Catholic school in Niger State.
Tinubu further revealed that he shelved his scheduled trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa in order to personally oversee security operations.
