Why I resigned from PDP – Gov Adeleke
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has formally withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to a statement issued late Monday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor ended his affiliation with the party on November 4, 2025.
Adeleke’s resignation was communicated through a letter sent to the PDP Ward 2 Chairman, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State.
He linked his decision to the lingering disputes within the party’s national hierarchy.
“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect.”
The governor also expressed appreciation to the PDP for the platform it provided during his time as Senator for Osun West and as the state’s chief executive.
IDOMA VOICE notes that Adeleke’s political future has been widely debated amid concerns over the party’s legal status.
There are also unconfirmed indications that the governor may now be aligning with the Accord Party as preparations intensify for the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, following the ongoing turbulence within the PDP.
