Suspected bandits kill over 30 abduct others in Niger
At least 30 people are feared dead, while several others were kidnapped after suspected bandits attacked a community in Niger State.
The attackers, believed to be operating from the Kainji Lake National Park, reportedly stormed a village market in Kabe District, Borgu Local Government Area, and set it on fire.
During the attack, the assailants looted food items and other goods before burning down the market. They also allegedly opened fire on villagers and abducted several people along routes leading into the Kainji Lake National Park forest.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, said a joint security team had visited the area and that efforts were underway to rescue those abducted.
