IPOB dares Soludo, orders Monday sit-at-home

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced a sit-at-home exercise across all five South-East states on Monday, February 2, in solidarity with traders in Onitsha.

The directive comes as a direct challenge to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who recently instructed traders to resume their business activities on Mondays.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, emphasizing that the planned sit-at-home will be conducted peacefully.

IPOB described the lockdown as a “direct, peaceful, and unified response” to what it calls Governor Soludo’s oppressive measures.

“The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, under the leadership of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, hereby declares a Biafra-wide solidarity strike, a complete lockdown of all economic activities across Igboland and wider Biafran territories, on Monday, February 2, 2026,” the statement read in part.

The group accused Governor Soludo of shutting down Onitsha Main Market for a week and issuing threats of extended closures, land revocations, demolitions, and punitive repurposing, targeting traders who continue observing the Monday sit-at-home in support of IPOB’s detained leader.
