Benue: Security operatives arrest suspected bandits, kidnappers in Guma
Security operatives have apprehended a number of suspected bandits and kidnappers believed to be behind a series of criminal activities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
The arrests followed coordinated raids on identified criminal hideouts across the council, as part of ongoing security operations in the area.
Officials disclosed that investigations are still in progress, adding that the suspects will be arraigned in court once preliminary inquiries are concluded.
The latest crackdown forms part of renewed efforts to tackle insecurity and reassure residents who have endured recurring attacks in recent months.
Chairman of Guma Local Government Council, Maurice Orwough, praised the security agencies for what he termed a bold move to rid communities of criminal elements.
He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue supporting security personnel through strong collaboration and provision of logistics, emphasizing that safeguarding lives and property remains a primary responsibility.
Security authorities also assured residents that sustained operations would be carried out to maintain peace and order across the state.
