The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced monitoring 34 constituency projects across 14 Local Government Areas in Benue State, with a total value of N4 billion.

Mr. Murtala Lawal, leader of the ICPC tracking team in the state, disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday in Makurdi.

Lawal explained that the exercise aligns with the commission’s mandate to ensure that all Federal Government contracts are executed according to specifications and budgetary provisions.

He stated that the projects are located in Makurdi, Tarka, Gwer West, Gwer East, Apa, Agatu, Otukpo, Ado, Kwande, Ukum, Katsina-Ala, Buruku, Vandekiya, and Ohimini Local Government Areas.

According to Lawal, the team has already reviewed the supply of medical equipment at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, and in Tarka LGA to assess compliance with contract terms. He expressed satisfaction with the level of adherence observed so far.

However, he regretted the delay in completing the installation of a CT scan machine at the Federal Medical Centre, Apir, a contract awarded in 2024.

Lawal emphasised that the ICPC would continue its tracking efforts, noting that constituency projects are funded by the Federal Government for the benefit of the public and not from the personal funds of politicians.

He further urged residents to take ownership of projects in their communities, protect them, and report any irregularities to the ICPC for appropriate action.
