FCT polls: INEC officials wait as voters fail to appear at Asokoro polling unit

No voter turned up at Polling Unit 084 located on Linda Chaulker Street in Asokoro during the ongoing Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory on Saturday.

As of the time of filing this report, the polling centre remained deserted, with electoral officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) present but without any voters to accredit or attend to.

INEC officials were seen seated with election materials arranged and awaiting the arrival of residents expected to cast their ballots. However, hours after the official commencement time, no electorate had shown up at the unit.

The development contrasts with reports of early morning turnout challenges and logistical issues recorded in other parts of the territory.

It was not immediately clear whether the absence of voters was due to low turnout, voter apathy, or relocation of registered voters to other polling units.
