Prominent development activist and media personality, Comrade Adams Abounu, has called for a concerted effort to transform Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency into a hub of development.

Speaking exclusively to Idoma Voice in Obagaji on Tuesday, Abounu emphasized the strategic potential of the area, noting its fertile lands, mineral resources, and water bodies suitable for fish and irrigation farming. He stressed that these resources, if properly harnessed, could significantly improve the socio-economic wellbeing of the local population.

“The land of Apa/Agatu is blessed. We have arable portions, mineral resources, and even our water bodies can support fish and irrigation farming. These potentials must be leveraged for the greater benefit of our people,” Abounu said.

The activist also announced plans to lead a delegation of youths and professionals from Apa/Agatu to engage development stakeholders and rally community support for the region’s growth. He added that development and security in the area go beyond political considerations, calling on all well-meaning sons and daughters of the constituency to join the initiative.

Abounu gained national recognition in 2015 when his independent media report on Agatu’s insecurity, caused by recurrent herdsmen attacks, attracted accolades from TIME magazine and prompted President Muhammadu Buhari to establish a military forward operation base in the area. He reiterated his commitment to resisting further invasion by terrorist elements while championing sustainable development.

“This is not about politics; it is about securing our lands and creating opportunities for our people. Together, we can build a prosperous Apa/Agatu,” Abounu concluded.
