Names of Boko Haram, ISWAP commanders killed in Borno operation revealed
The identities of three top commanders from Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province eliminated during a military operation in Borno State have been disclosed.
The development follows a recent offensive by troops of the Nigerian Army, which reportedly led to the killing of about 80 insurgents, including senior leaders.
According to military sources, the terrorists had advanced on foot from the Duguri axis, supported by armed drones, in an attempt to penetrate the 68 Battalion’s defensive position.
However, troops engaged them in a heavy exchange of gunfire, successfully repelling the assault and neutralising several fighters.
Security sources identified the slain commanders as Abdulrahman Gobara, Mallam Ba Yuram, and Abou Ayyuba, noting that they spearheaded the failed attack.
Other fighters reportedly killed during the operation include Zarkawi, Ba Bunu, Rawa Fannami, Abowor Suwurti, Bulama Mil, Abu Aisha, Suleimana, Abu Rijal, and Abu Ali, among others.
