Troops rescue three kidnap victims in Benue
Troops under Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully freed three persons abducted by suspected kidnappers in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State after responding promptly to a distress alert.
According to a military source, the operation took place around 4:15 p.m. on March 27 in Ayilamo Ayimbe community, where armed criminals had earlier seized some residents.
The source explained that soldiers from Sector 1, stationed in Anyin, quickly moved to the scene after receiving intelligence on the incident.
“On sighting the troops, the kidnappers abandoned their victims and fled into nearby bush,” the source said.
He noted that three victims were rescued during the operation.
Following their release, the victims were given preliminary checks and safely reunited with their families.
The source added that troops have stepped up patrols across the area to pursue the fleeing suspects and forestall further criminal activities.
