As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, conversations around effective representation in Benue South Senatorial District, also known as Zone C, are increasingly shifting toward competence, experience and development-driven leadership.

At the center of these conversations is Engr. Agidani Oloche, a development expert whose background in Nigeria’s infrastructure and power sector has continued to attract attention from stakeholders across the district.

Political observers and community leaders argue that the challenges confronting Zone C, including poor infrastructure, inadequate electricity supply and limited rural development, require more than conventional political representation.

According to them, the district needs a technically grounded leader with practical experience in policy formulation and implementation of large-scale development projects.

Engr. Agidani’s professional career began at the Energy Commission of Nigeria, where he contributed to national energy planning and policy development. He later worked with the Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA, gaining international exposure in strategic infrastructure and development initiatives.

Over the years, he has reportedly played active roles in several critical national projects, including Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan aimed at promoting sustainable energy and economic growth.

He was also involved in the expansion of electric power transmission and grid systems, an area many stakeholders consider vital to improving electricity access in rural communities across Benue South.

Supporters further point to his work in renewable energy development for underserved communities as evidence of his understanding of grassroots development challenges.

Many rural communities in Zone C continue to grapple with poor electricity supply, a situation residents say affects education, healthcare, agriculture and economic activities.

Analysts believe Engr. Agidani’s experience across the power sector value chain, ranging from energy policy and infrastructure development to renewable energy and grid expansion, places him in a strong position to influence legislation and attract meaningful development projects to the district.

Beyond his technical expertise, supporters also argue that his exposure to both local and international development systems gives him the strategic network and insight needed to drive sustainable growth in the senatorial district.

As discussions around the 2027 elections intensify, many residents of Benue South appear to be placing increasing emphasis on competence, capacity and measurable results rather than traditional political considerations.

For many stakeholders, Engr. Agidani represents a new generation of development-focused leadership capable of redefining representation for Zone C at the National Assembly.
