George Alli commends Andrew Obeya over Otukpo Library revival
Former Chairman of Otukpo LGA, Rt. Hon. George Alli, has commended Andrew Obeya Adaudu and his team for the successful revival and reopening of the Otukpo Public Library in Benue State.
Alli gave the commendation after attending the reopening ceremony of the library, describing the development as a major milestone for education and intellectual growth in Idomaland.
According to him, the project represents more than the reopening of a public facility, noting that it symbolises resilience, vision and service to the community.
“Today, we celebrate more than a building reopening. We celebrate resilience, vision, and service,” he stated.
The former lawmaker praised Adaudu and members of the Otukpo Library Team for restoring what he described as the intellectual hub of Idomaland after years of neglect.
“Andy Obeya and team, you took on a library that was once the intellectual hub of Idomaland and restored it from years of neglect. You refused to let its story end there,” Alli said.
He noted that the team faced enormous challenges, including a dilapidated structure, limited resources and the task of restoring public confidence in the facility.

“The obstacles were real: a dilapidated facility, dwindling resources, and the challenge of reviving public trust in a place that had lost its spark. Yet you pushed through, mobilizing support and staying committed to the belief that education is the foundation of any society,” he added.
Alli further stated that the revived library would provide students, professionals and researchers with a conducive environment for learning and development.
“Because of your work, students, professionals, and dreamers now have a space to learn, debate, and grow again,” he said.
He described the reopening of the library as a dream turned into reality and expressed confidence that the impact of the project would be felt for generations across the community.
