Kidnap victim rescued as troops raid terrorist camp in Kwara
Troops of Operation Savannah Shield have rescued a kidnapped victim after engaging suspected terrorists in a gun battle during a patrol operation in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Security sources reports that the operation was carried out on June 10 by troops of the 22 Brigade stationed at Patrol Base Gbugbu.
The sources said the troops launched a fighting patrol to a suspected terrorist hideout in Ile-Ire community, where they encountered armed criminals.
A fierce exchange of gunfire followed, forcing the terrorists to abandon their camp and flee into nearby bushes.
During the operation, the troops successfully rescued one kidnap victim who had been held captive by the criminals.
Military sources added that troops have continued to dominate the area and sustain pressure on the fleeing suspects as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal elements and enhance security across the region.
