Agatu LG is now peaceful, no more herdsmen/farmers clashes — Chairman, Hon Melvin Ejeh

The Chairman of Agatu Local Government Area, Melvin Ejeh, has declared that Agatu is now peaceful and ready to welcome investors, urging Nigerians to take advantage of the abundant economic opportunities in the area.
 
Ejeh made the declaration while speaking at the maiden edition of Idoma Day Abuja 2026.
 
According to him, although there are still occasional security skirmishes, the overall situation in Agatu has improved significantly, making it safe for people to live, work and invest.
 
He disclosed that major commercial centres in the area, including the Oweto and Obagaji markets, are fully operational, adding that every part of Agatu has been opened to investors.
 
His words: “I want to inform everyone that Agatu is now peaceful. Although there are still occasional security skirmishes, the situation is stable, and people can confidently come and do business with us.
 
“The Oweto Market is open, and the Obagaji Market is also fully operational. Every part of Agatu is now open to investors.
“We invite investors and entrepreneurs to come and explore the numerous opportunities in our area. Come and engage in fishing, farming and mining. Agatu is open for business.
 
“The days when Agatu was known only for farmer-herder clashes are behind us. We have moved beyond that era. Today, Agatu is peaceful, welcoming, and ready for growth and development.
