Unknown gunmen kill Benue varsity professor, Gabriel Nyityo in Makurdi

The academic community of Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM), has been thrown into mourning following the reported killing of Professor Gabriel Nyityo of the Department of History by suspected gunmen.

Professor Nyityo was reportedly attacked and killed at his residence in Makurdi in the early hours of Wednesday.

Although details of the incident remain sketchy, preliminary reports indicate that the assailants attacked the professor while he was asleep. 

The motive behind the killing has yet to be established, and it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Benue State Police Command nor the management of Moses Orshio Adasu University had issued an official statement confirming the incident or providing further information.

 The development is coming barely one week after another professor of Benue origin, David Salifu was killed along Taraba-Benue road by suspected herdsmen.
