Benue: Police arrest suspect over killing of Prof. Nyityo, younger brother

The Benue State Police Command has taken into custody a 23-year-old man, Abdullahi Usman, from Awe in Nasarawa State, over his alleged involvement in the deaths of Professor Gabriel Saawua Nyityo and his younger brother, John Nyityo.

Police spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, said officers attached to the D Division acted on a distress report from the Adaka area, where they found the lifeless bodies of the two brothers.

The victims were identified as 58-year-old Professor Gabriel Saawua Nyityo and his 19-year-old younger brother, John Nyityo.

Preliminary police findings indicate they were attacked and killed by unidentified gunmen.

Edet stated that ongoing investigations resulted in the arrest of Abdullahi Usman, a 23-year-old resident of Awe Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, over his suspected role in the killings.

She further noted that efforts are continuing to track down and arrest other individuals believed to have participated in the crime.
