Tope Osoba’s family denies reports actress died of cancer

The family of late Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has dismissed widespread reports claiming she died of cancer.

The actress reportedly passed away on Tuesday evening, shortly after speaking with some of her colleagues on the phone and updating her WhatsApp status with the words “Ogo Tuntun,” meaning “New Glory.”

Her death came nearly two years after she appealed to the public for financial support to undergo breast cancer surgery and treatment.

Following news of her passing, several reports linked her death to the illness.

However, in an official statement shared on Osoba’s Instagram page on Thursday, her family described the claims as false and urged the public to stop spreading unverified information.

“We are deeply saddened by the spread of false and unverified reports concerning the passing of our beloved.

“At this difficult time, we wish to categorically state that the numerous claims circulating on social media and various blogs regarding the circumstances surrounding her death are false, speculative, and entirely unauthorized,” the statement read.

The family did not disclose the actual cause of the actress’ death but appealed to the public to avoid spreading misinformation.

They also assured that further details would be released through her official social media page.
