2027: APC NWC vows to campaign for all candidates amid Wike face-off

The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has resolved to lead the party’s campaign and engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections to secure victory for all its candidates.

The decision was contained in a communiqué issued on Saturday at the end of the party’s National Strategic Retreat in Maiduguri, Borno State, where the NWC also held its 195th meeting.

The resolution comes amid a disagreement between APC governors and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over his Rainbow Coalition, which supports President Bola Tinubu while allowing support for candidates of other political parties.

The APC Governors Forum had earlier resolved not to support or endorse any political arrangement capable of weakening the party or its candidates.

In a communiqué read by its chairman, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, the forum said its members would support only candidates officially sponsored by the APC.

The NWC also passed a vote of confidence in Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and other APC candidates for the 2027 elections.

It further resolved to reconcile aggrieved leaders and members at the state, local government and ward levels as part of efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the elections.

“We resolved that we must continue to make reconciliation where we need to make reconciliation at all levels,” the communiqué read.

The NWC said it would lead the party’s campaign and other engagements to ensure victory for its candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

The retreat, themed “Strengthening Party Organisation, Unity and Electoral Readiness Towards 2027,” was attended by APC state chairmen and other party stakeholders from across the 36 states.
