2027: Umar Salah dumps ADC, joins APC in Sokoto

A former chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Umar Salah, has joined the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Salah joined the APC on Saturday. The Chairman of the Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board, Umaru Nagwari Tambuwal, received him.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Ahmed Ladan Ala, also supported the move.

Salah made the decision after meeting Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu at the Government House in Sokoto.

He said the governor’s performance influenced his decision to leave the ADC. He also praised Aliyu’s projects across the state.

According to Salah, the projects have improved living conditions for residents.

He said the governor’s achievements convinced him and his supporters to back the administration.

Salah also pledged his full support for Aliyu ahead of the 2027 general elections. He promised to mobilise his followers for the governor.

Meanwhile, Nagwari Tambuwal assured Salah of equal treatment within the APC.

He said the party does not discriminate against its members. Therefore, Salah would enjoy the same rights and privileges as other APC members.

Nagwari Tambuwal also praised Governor Aliyu for his projects across Sokoto State.

In addition, he prayed for continued guidance and protection for the governor.

Salah’s defection comes amid political realignments in Sokoto State ahead of the 2027 elections.

The move adds to reported defections from opposition parties to the APC as political parties intensify mobilisation across the state.
