Pharm. David Onoja, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives candidate for Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, has awarded scholarships to eight students of Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi, who were reportedly facing difficulties continuing their education due to financial constraints.

The beneficiaries comprise three students from Owukpa, three from Orokam and two from Otukpa, all in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.

Onoja disclosed this following the presentation of the scholarships at the university on Saturday, explaining that the intervention was intended to assist students whose education was threatened by school fees and other financial challenges.

Beyond the scholarship, the NDC candidate pledged to support the beneficiaries even after graduation, with the aim of helping them become established in life.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Onoja said the initiative was not limited to seeing them through school, but also ensuring they had a future after graduation.

“It’s not just to see you through school, but even after school, we will find a way to ensure that those eight persons are not moving around the streets. They are fully established,” he said.

He urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and cooperate with those supporting them, stressing that he wanted to see them succeed beyond their university education.

“I’m talking to all of you, not just for the scholarship, but I also want to see you succeed,” Onoja said.

He further encouraged the students to contact him whenever they needed assistance, assuring them of his willingness to support their academic and personal development.

“You can reach out to me for whatsoever assistance that you will need. I want you to succeed,” he told the beneficiaries.

The scholarship intervention is aimed at easing the financial burden on the students and supporting their pursuit of higher education.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the Network of Ado Students (NOAS) has endorsed Onoja’s candidacy, describing his ambition to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives as a “sure ticket.”
