Nigerian govt approves N1.057bn for construction of Okpokwu Bridge

The 26th virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a total sum of N117.661 billion for roads and bridges that cut across ten States.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, who briefed State House reporters on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, after the meeting, said N8.767 billion out of the N18,923,846,198.47 billion approved in his first memo was for the rehabilitation of 26 kilometers Kano-Kazaure-Daura-Mai’adua road (Daura-Mai’adua Section) in Kano, Jigawa, Katsina States.

 

Fashola listed the six other roads approved in the memo to include “Omor-Umulokpa road in Anambra and Enugu N1.712 billion, rehabilitation of Oye-Oranto off Enugu Expressway Dunukofia in Anambra at N2.504 billion, Okpokwu Bridge along Ogoja-Okuku-Aliforkpa-Benue road in Cross River N1.057 billion, Bridge at kilometer 22.7 meters along Bida-Zungeru road in Niger State at N1.022 billion, Nkwumi Bridge linking Abia and Enugu States at N1.072 billion and Chalawa-Runku-Sawa-Kayi Road in Kombotso, Kano State N2.787 billion.”

The minister said a total sum of N98,730,840,842.81 billion was also approved for roads in the second memo that he presented.

He said the approved contracts included “Riga-Gusau road in Zamfara N1.799 billion, Jigakwana road in Kebbi N31.539 billion, Kokomo Auta road in Kebbi N19.713 billion, Kuka Babangida road in Katsina N11.731 billion, Ihiala-Orkula-Umuduru road to Uko at N16.750 billion, Oye Ama Otite road to Umuawulu road in Anambra at N2.155 billion and rehabilitation of Bichi road in Kano State N8.34 billion.”
