1. Armed herdsmen have reportedly invaded Senator Gabriel Suswam’s home town, sacking four Council Wards and several villages in Yonov, Tombo, Turan and Nenzev in Logo as well as communities in Guma and Buruku Local Government Areas, LGAs of Benue state.
The invaders who were reported to have marched into the communities with over a thousand cattle from neighbouring Taraba state, were said to have destroyed large cassava farms and yam seedlings in the affected communities.
2. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is to challenge the victory of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in three council areas of Kwali, Abaji and Gwagwalada in the February 12th council election in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja.
Governor Samuel Ortom, who was chairman of the PDP Campaign Committee Council for the FCT election, disclosed this Monday, February 21st, 2022, at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi, when he hosted Jemgbagh PDP Elders’ Forum, led by Barrister Samuel Tsumba.
3. The Force Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, Maj. Gen. Kevin Aligbe has assured that the Nigerian Armed Forces’ intervention and partnership with civil authorities will end the border conflicts between communities in Benue and Ebonyi States.
Aligbe stated this yesterday while inspecting the extent of damage around the border communities of Odoke, Ugboghelle, Anmeka, Apa-Ogbozu, and others affected by the Effium/Ezza border crisis
4. The death has been announced of Pastor Ezekiel Atang of the God’s House of Refuge Church.
Pastor Atang, 50, was one of the spiritual sons of Dr. Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre.
5. There are indications that George Akume, former governor of Benue State has lost his bid as national chairman of the All Progressives Congress.
Sources said the party leadership has agreed to pick Al-Makura Tanko, former Nasarawa governor as the new APC chairman.
