APC Primary: Ex-Benue speaker Dajoh withdraws from House of Assembly race

Former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and lawmaker representing Gboko West Constituency, Hon. Hyacinth Dajoh, has announced his withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress APC primary election for the State House of Assembly.

In a statement issued through his media office, Dajoh said his decision was based on alleged irregularities and a lack of transparency that reportedly characterized the ongoing primaries across parts of the state.

He claimed that reports from the exercise indicated widespread manipulation of the process.

According to him, in some areas, result sheets were allegedly filled out before voting began, while in others, electoral materials failed to arrive at designated centres, even though winners were later announced.

Dajoh said participating in such a process would amount to endorsing an exercise that does not meet standards of fairness, credibility, and internal democracy within the All Progressives Congress.

He, however, expressed appreciation to his supporters, party members, delegates, women, youths, and stakeholders across Gboko West Constituency for their support and confidence in his political aspiration.

The former Speaker also appealed for calm among his supporters and political associates while awaiting further political direction.

Dajoh reaffirmed his commitment to the unity, peace, and development of Gboko West Constituency, while thanking the people for their continued solidarity.
