BENUE STATE POLYTECHNIC UGBOKOLO: RESUMPTION DATE IMMINENT.

A meeting of the Academic board held yesterday and presided over by the Rector Dr. Usman David Kuti , has revealed that Academic activities is set to resume after several months of closure due to the Covid 19 Pandemic.

Making this disclosure at this meeting, the Rector intimated that preparations had already been made at a meeting of a Committee of Representatives of Government owned educational Institutions in the State , which was presided over by the Hon. Commissioner for education, Prof. Dennis Ityavar.

The meeting, Dr Kuti disclosed was meant to look at Government proposal for resumption of Schools in Benue State insofar as it was in compliance with COVID 19 Protocols.

Accordingly, schools will resume as from 21st of September 2020 insofar as the following requirements are met: the availability of testing thermometer, isolation center, adherence to social distance practice at lectures, face masks, , hand washing facilities at every strategic location, fumigation and depopulation of hostel students. A proposal of staggered resumption was also made in respect of Universities.

Dr. Kuti further disclosed the readiness of Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo to resume, having earlier fumigated the school environment and the readiness to comply with the other aforementioned requirements.

Earlier, the Rector, Dr. Usman David Kuti, disclosed the receipt of a letter of TETFUND approved Academic staff study sponsorship in Nigeria and overseas as well as those going for Benchwork outside Nigeria. This revelation therefore put paid to the bickering over alleged mismanagement of TETFUND approved study funds as erroneously presumed by some persons.

As an adjunct to this, the Director of Academic Planning, Austin Umoru disclosed that henceforth, TETFUND disbursement on studies will be in two dimensions. In the first instance, a certain percentage reserved with TETF.
